Goddam, the end is near. I don’t even mind showing my age (49) but these YouTube “stars”, influencers, or whatever you want to call them, make me physically sick. I’ve never seen more vapid, narcissistic, or ignorant behavior anywhere. Are we to blame the Kardashians for this? I tried to watch some of the videos for a couple of minutes and found myself wanting to drown these guys with my own hands, watching the life drain from them. Their parents must be so ashamed.

With the current Youtube ad restrictions, very few channels are making money from ads anymore. Now they need sponsors and brand deals and those come from views not so much subscribers. So content of thumbnails, titles and the first few minutes of a video has shifted to focus on what gets views. The reality is that interesting, thoughtful, creative content is not what people watch. It doesn't bring in the big view numbers.
If you look at Travis Bryant's channel, his videos in 2019 that have gotten the most views are the ones with Jack and Mario - where the focus is sexual tension / chemistry / gaybaiting / are we aren't we hooking up or dating. Videos about slumber parties and underwear and I share a bed with my best friend are what get the views. His videos with Jack or Mario get 2-3 or more times the views the rest of his videos get. Put a shirtless person in the thumbnail, create a title that infers some form of possible intimate or sexual relationship or nudity and you are going to make more money.
The youtubers are creating the content the viewers watch as that makes them cash. The question is why does the actual good content not get views. It is all business. They aren't in this to change the world, they are making a living and getting attention and they will kiss or cuddle or strip down if that is what brings in the cash.
They also do need to make the - look how human I am videos too to get an initial audience base. These are the childhood and dating sob stories, I messed up and apology videos, coming out videos, break-up and crying videos, I'm sad and lonely like you videos, give sage advice from the I'm not like the other youtubers perspective etc. Throw in a few cross channel collabs to try and increase audiences and you get more views and more income. Drama and conflict also increases views.

I am 49, and retired from the entertainment industry. Don't hate me when I say this... I think these people who put their lives online are fuckin' geniuses. They have figured out how to monetize "home movies" (because that is essentially what vlogs are). These people are just living their lives and making enough money to survive or better and flourishing. It seems insane! 25 years in entertainment and my life was never as entertaining or fulfilling as some of these "influencers". They live lives of leisure! Who the fuck wouldn't want that? You just have to be willing put your life on display.
In theory, they are good for all the closeted young men out there, because serve an important purpose.... that it's okay to be gay. And life can be gaymazing! I didn't meet a gay man until I was 21! And he was a big flaming gay, which I ran from. Youtube may not be your thing, but I totally support these kids and that they get to live their lives without fear!

Travis and Mario are embroiled in a spat with their subscribers who think Mario is using Travis and are mad about all the tension / no action between them in videos. Okay... Let's see if anyone else see what I see and/or agrees with me. If you don't, then make your comments known too.
This thread says that there are 44 posters. That could be right or wrong... plus or minus either way. DataLounge is known as a site of elder gays who wear earrings and caftans-- it generally skews towards an older crowd. Now, if that is true than why.... why ... are most of these "Gay YouTube" examples nothing but kids in their 20's or younger? Work with me here... I believe that this could develop into an interesting discussion...
I'm not making any judgment. Well... yeah... I guess I am... But, what is this? Is this the baby sitting thread? Some of you actually sit behind your phones and computers and watch and follow these children? Regularly? REALLY? Because, I'm seeing very few examples given here of men over 30 years old! So, my question is; What's the attraction? Is there something else going on with some of you that is "something" else going on with you?
Now, for full disclosure... I have posted about 5-6 videos here with the youngest probably being a black married couple who are raising children. They might be in their mid-late 20's. But, they're doing an "adult" activity that I can relate to. After that, it's a guy whose channel is about luxury goods but he might be in his early to mid thirties. Other than that it's Matt & Blue, Husband & Husband, Adam & Bernardo, and the fetish couple.
So, here's where I'm going with this; When I see (what I believe might be a trend) stuff like this, it reminds of "we" gay men's insatiable, adulation, and constant pursuit of youth. And, while I DO believe that May/December romances are quite possible and genuine, many of them, (many more than we'd like to admit) end up like the story in the link.
So, what is the attraction towards all of these youth oriented YouTubers here? I'll admit that I like to watch a Bugs Bunny cartoon every now and then, but... sheesh! What's going on with some of you?

Are you hearing voices as well? Go ahead and double or triple your dosage while you still have time despite the warnings on the bottles - break the cycle now before the inevitable depressive crash hits. Maybe consider voluntarily admission to a secure psychiatric unit for evaluation before your further decompensation results in involuntary confinement.

R33 Obviously having a diagnosis yourself you should be a little less callous to those with mental health issues. Your post is so incisive, grotesque and vindictive it can only come from first hand experience.
I would take a diagnosis of Bipolar II or manageable Schizophrenia any day over the glaringly apparent psychopathic/low empathy personality disorder you are plagued with.
Get help. It sounds as if you are the one about to crash and kill yourself.

Well... I'm not the one that you are directly addressing but I'll write this from what I have since seen once the "nursery school" was called out; There have been a better mix of videos featuring gays of all ages rather than those from the toddler section.
I apologize folks. I know that Adam & Bernardo have already been noted on this thread. But, this is their latest video. It's their Valentine's Day video. And, the quality of their videos and content have become SO much better since the time they started vlogging.
