Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians
John Thompson
"Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars" was so popular when it was released that it seemed like Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians would be releasing successful music for years. But it was a one-album wonder.

I liked their second album, too, and I like her music in general, but the success of What I Am really hyped them up.

Didn't she just become Mrs. Paul Simon?

Man, they played that song so much that I grew sick of it very quickly. She divorced Simon decades ago.

She wasn't as fabulous or leztastic as us.

R6 Divorced? That would be news to both Edie and Paul that they are divorced.

Brickell and Simon did have a public fight several years back, but appear to still be together.
Wonder what Paul did to "break her heart."

When I was in college, I worked early mornings as a supermarket checker. Edie Brickell's dad was the guy who delivered the newspapers to the stores each morning, and one morning he came in with her gold record & showed it to us all. Such a proud dad. Such a normal guy.

This brings me back to my freshman year in college, and the cute guy with the long, swoopy hair who I had such a crush on.......

She was only 48 then! She looks so haggard and old.
I loved this album...still listen to it occasionally. I couldn’t get into anything she did afterward.

And being alone is the best way to be. When I'm by myself that's the best way to be. And being alone is the best way to be. When I'm by myself, nobody else can say goodbye. We are a part of the circle of friends and we notice you don't come around.
