I've been half watching. It's OK. I do think the bloom was off the rose years ago and now we're looking at the few half-limp petals left on a mushy flowerhead.
But I think the UK is more engaging than the US show because the budget is lower. The US shows are now all annoying choreographed song and dance numbers and parades of purchased outfits. The UK series is like the earlier seasons of Drag Race, which was a better formula IMO. The first episode was just posing for a stupid photoshoot. The most recent was outfit construction. I have stopped watching the choreographed episodes with the annoying songs. They're boring. The songs are always stupid and the show only demonstrates how well someone can memorize choreography. I like to see their creativity and personalities, not how well they remember to move an arm over their head.

Major tangent from Drag Race UK, but RuPaul's BFF Lady Bunny is dangerously insane. She's been posting to Instagram that Russia is an innocent victim of US propaganda. Ukraine is the aggressor, and is saying Joe Biden is a dangerous warmonger who must be upended because he is waging war with China and Russia, who have never done anything to antagonize us.
Really.
It's insane.

Oh my gosh, I thought this week's guest judge was interesting and familiar looking—she reminds me of Katty Kay from BBC News—so I googled her and I am SHOCKED to find out she's the "SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!" septa/nun from Game of Thrones! How could the show not have done something with that?! I have come to despise 'Rusicals' and I usually skip the episodes that feature them, which is most of the episodes these days. They could have done a skit (even a musical version if they must) of Game of Thrones set in the nunnery featurinf tortured GoT characters. That woule have been amazing.

Hannah Waddington is far more famous for Ted Lasso than the small part in GOT. Also, she's a British Musical Theater star, which is why she was there for the Rusical. I was surprised by how great Dakota was in the lipsync and presumed she would have won anyway had Baby not said she was leaving on her own.

R55, Cheddar was on a program (Drag SOS) where they travelled around the UK, making over people to drag queens and having them perform. This was pre, « We’re Here ». Cheddar and her family were warm, empathetic, and encouraging, without pandering and platitudes.

It seems the Asian queens (with the exception of Jujubee) can't do comedic improv- they tend to pick Asian celebrities that aren't that well known- and that's where Juju got it right-she went with a known icon who wasn't Asian. Even Pangina, who is naturally funny, did a terrible Snatch game- but to be fair, others have tried Mariah and failed.

I wound up going to the season 3 show at the London Palladium earlier this month. Krystal (the winner) was pretty awful. The first part of the show was just her and it was boring as hell. Vanity Milan rocked, and Veronica Green of all people got a standing ovation.

I caught a bit of this last night when flicking and it was my introduction to the series. It started in the rehearsal room where the scouse was talking about doing Louis Walsh and Irish was going to do Enya.
Elizabeth 1st was vaguely amusing, Marie Kondo dreadful, Cilla Black shameful, Shirley Bassey criminal, Pete Burns hateful, Lil Nas X wasteful and St Patty forgettable.
AJ Odudu and Tess Daly (53) look like they were filmed laughing at something actually funny and then edited in.
That's enough for this year.

We're at the point where only one or two queens get positive critiques on Snatch Game and everyone else gets roasted. Deservedly so. It happened in the last US regular season and the first Down Under season.
Is it reflective of today's drag queens where they can't seem to pick a good character and make it funny and entertaining? Are they too focused on looking good and having polished pics on their social media?
Black Peppa was obviously Ru's pick to win at the beginning but now I'm not so sure, if she keeps landing in the bottom.

Speaking of Jonbers’ snatch game, if we are now at the point where “broad ethnic stereotype” is an acceptable snatch game character, then Ru basically needs to tell every Asian queen from here on out that they should just do Margaret Cho’s mom.
Both of Pixie Polite’s improv characters have been rip-offs of Matt Lucas from Little Britain.

During the first few seasons of RPDR, it was possible that you didn't like a Queen because of their aesthetic or attitude, but most all of them were performers who gave it their all and were intent on putting on a show. The Snatch Game challenge in particular shows how much that's changed: these people are no longer entertainers in the classic sense of the word. They don't know improv, or how to choose a character that has an angle that can be worked for a laugh. Deer in headlights, frozen in place in their costumes. Hello?! Dress up gets boring after a while, no matter how good it looks or how high the budget.

I have to agree about the challenge. I kept falling asleep during it, it was so bad. It seemed they hadn't had enough time to learn their lines before the rehearsal, but I did feel Pixie did the best job, so I found it ludicrous that they said that there wasn't enough of her in the part. I mean, come on, what do you think acting is? I knew early on that it was going to be Peppa and Jombers in the lipsync and presumed Jombers was going home. Of course, Jombers obviously won the lipsync, (I mean you couldn't even see Peppa's face!) and since you knew Ru wouldn't send Peppa home, they saved them both. It's all so ridiculous at this point. Why am I even watching? The only thing in their favor is it's a thousand times better than Italia.

There was no way that it would have ended up with only white finalists, so Peppa had to be saved. At least they kept Jombers last week, as she easily won the lipsync. Frankly neither did a good job this week, but I always hate when queens bare their tops, I found it strangly creepy, and I thought Pixie was just a hair better. But I guessed the outcome from the beginning of the episode.

I just started watching this. Black Peppa is so unfortunate looking in and out of drag. Those horse teeth are so distracting.
