Has anyone here heard of this guy? He says he's a working doctor, but he seems to spend all his time doing react videos or beating other YouTubers bloody. He participated in a "charity event" called Creator Clash that raised a little over a million dollars when each of these wealthy YouTubers could have easily donated a million each without putting a dent in their bank accounts. Also, I think he might be a psycho.

I find him refreshing - he's clearly not adverse to hard work, maintaining a successful practice and a social media presence would take a hell of a lot of energy. Having worked his way through medical school, he is also taking advantage of all of his gifts, youthful, physical beauty, and charisma, as well as the opportunities of technology to promote himself (and, since he obviously cares about spreading good medical information and fighting dis-information) and his message.

One of the lines against DO schools is that they're feeders for family medicine and might limit your residency prospects. But that has changed in recent years and will change even more in the future.
Elite programs can still be snooty about it. My spouse is an MD at a top-tier research school and some departments don't seriously consider DO applicants. Others now feel that was a dumb prejudice and are becoming more DO-friendly.

Do I need to justify my degree? Probably not, but DO schools' lower barrier to entry makes them more attractive for non-traditional students. At the end of the day, I sat for the same licensing exams and the same residency. If I was that in love with the letters "MD," I would have gone to the Caribbean, which is apparently preferable for you guys.
As for Dr. Mike--any doctor who doesn't spend at least 50% of his time treating patients has no business putting themselves out as an expert.

First interview invite I got was the school I ended up attending. I flew up for an interview, really liked the vibe, and got an acceptance letter about two weeks later. That was enough of a sign for me.
I mean, if Harvard had wanted to interview me, sure, but it seemed like that was the path I was being nudged down.
You can judge the letters, but at the end of the day, I know how I perform at my job, and I know that I wouldn't be any different if the letters were. The only. thing that would be different is not having to deal with this crap.
