Does Anyone Here Watch "Shortland Street?"
Robert Guerrero
I don't want to get into details in case no one cares.

Is it that hard to post a photo or other link? If you don't care, why should we?

It appears that you have no idea what I'm talking about. That's fair enough. When something posts about something I know nothing about (and don't care about) I'd just ignore it and move on. If no one here has any interest in Shortland Street, they can simply respond by not responding. Your response is kind of strange.

OP. I like the way you presented the topic. You're right; if no one responds - or only a few - the thread is going to die a quick death and you haven't wasted time by entering a long explanation. If enough people respond affirmatively, you'll have created an interesting dialogue among fans.

I don't consider the 5 seconds it takes to add an imdb thumbnail wasted time or a long explanation, just common courtesy. Otherwise, don't bother with a weak thread.

Your not in Guatemala now Dr Ropata.

I haven’t watched it but do know about it. Is it still relevant? Sooo many Soaps get boring with repeat story lines etc. I gather you are a fan OP? Plenty of NZ actors have come up thru S/Street so I’m guessing it can’t be all bad.

I'm not a big fan, but I guess I'm hooked. That's why I didn't frame my first post as trying to draw anyone in to watch I. I don't recommend it, but since R1 seems so interested, if you want to watch the show it's streamed for free on the TVNZ website, though if you're in the U.S., you'll need to use a VPN. On YouTube, user Anthony Langford posts excerpts of the gay storylines
There is frequent eye-candy. The characters tend, in a lot of ways, to be predictable. The stories whiz by, which is a little disconcerting for a viewer of American soaps.
I was just. wondering if there might be other people interested in commenting on the show. It does present a lot of opportunity for snark.

^I guess the US crowd will find the Nu Zuland accent hard to follow? Cheers Bro.
| by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 27, 2022 12:28 AM |
I've found the NZ accent easy to adjust to. Of course, they throw in lots of Maori, often with subtitles, but I'm kind of absorbing the Maori little by little. Like I don't know the word for, say, "children" but when I see it I know what it means.
As an American, I find the most difficult English accent to understand is that of the English. It's like they gave the language to the rest of the world and then went of and formed a new language for themselves to speak!

R11 - Tom is a snake. However, the show moves stories along so quickly; he was a snake a few weeks ago and now we are going to feel for him.

R10 - watch it or I will cover you with Preparation H.

I used to watch it because my sister was a cast member, but i haven't seen it in about 15 years now. I'm always surprised to hear it's still going.

r17 Gasp, WHO IS YOUR SISTER?
| by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 27, 2022 4:03 AM |
She was on it almost 20 years ago so I seriously doubt you would remember her.

So, did anyone see that when the moment Louis' cod-piece was supposed to metaphorically light up, the Laptop blocking the view of Louis' cod-piece suddenly came to life?
| by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 30, 2022 1:46 AM |
Hot widower left, fuck this show.
| by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 13, 2022 10:00 PM |
Here is where things turn interesting.
Louis is not working undercover to take down the "Iron Dogs." That means he's going to be hot on the trail of Hamish Wilson, the bad cop who assisted on the death of Curtis on "Retribution."
Meanwhile, Jack is living happily ever after (for a couple months, as is Jack's wont) with the Hamish Walker, who was there when Curtis got murdered. Jack's living there with Hamish, Marty Walker, and Esther, Curtis' widow.
Trying to figure out how Shorty, where they seem to dispense of suspenseful storylines in the matter of days, is going to dispense with Hamish, the bad cop and somehow related to Marty, in the next week or two.

Is the bad cop the gay one, with the big chest and lack of acting technique?
I wanna fuck the gay Maori mourning hot guy.
| by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 15, 2022 5:42 AM |
Please tell me that’s not your penis!!
| by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 15, 2022 5:47 AM |
R23 - you're right about the bad cop. He's really hot but really meh.
The gay Maori, Jack, is mourning his brother, Curtis, murdered by a gang member assisted by the bad cop. So Jack and the bad cop, are, at least, for now, a couple.
But, like I say, everything can change in a week or so.

This is my thread!
I was a writer for the show a few years ago. We gave the cast nicknames and say the worst things about them and their acting 'skills' lol.
Also, I fucked one of the 'straight' female cast members - r19 who is your sister? Not SW ; )

R26 Which years were you there,? Any dirt?
| by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 15, 2022 7:58 AM |
r27 some of the writers and producers have their own bike gang, called Thespians something or rather. It's all very cringe, they had jackets made and everything.
They take themselves incredibly seriously for a shitty little soap. It's very much a box ticking exercise, the shallowest takes on what's 'in' at the time. They were dying to get a true proper Maori writer from Rotorua or another shitty small town when I was there. A proper poor one, to give the dialogue authenticity. It's all very Auckland if you know what I mean.
I worked with a lovely gay man, and a wonderful hippie-ish wealthy woman - I can't say too much or I'll give myself away.

What the fuck? 3856 Episodes, 27 seasons. People who watch this tripe must be friendless, unemployed, and really really senseless.
