Deidre Hall or Susan Lucci
Christopher Lucas
Deidre Hall was Electra Woman so she automatically wins.

Does the winner get a ribbon to wear?
| by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 25, 2018 11:05 PM |
I'm going to say Deirdre Hall but only because her head is not way too big for her body.
| by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 25, 2018 11:11 PM |
Susan Lucci is the most soap star in television history - so it goes to Susan

[quote] the most soap star

Just imagine what I'll accomplish now as I begin the second half of my career!
| by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 12, 2018 3:26 PM |
Deidre. She was in Our House.
| by Anonymous | reply 7 | November 12, 2018 3:30 PM |
Deidre has created a transcendent character. She set a record when she worked both daytime and primetime simultaneously. She may not have an Emmy but she is beloved.
| by Anonymous | reply 8 | November 12, 2018 3:31 PM |
People are just looking at soap popularity, not career outside of soap.
| by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 12, 2018 3:31 PM |
Based on that pic, Susan has had the best work done. Too bad about her giant head/tiny body combo. This is pretty typical, tho, lots of people from TV and films are bobble heads when seen in person.

Susan Lucci is the most legendary soap star in television history - so it goes to Susan
| by Anonymous | reply 11 | November 12, 2018 3:32 PM |
The question is about career, not just soap
| by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 12, 2018 3:32 PM |
Deidre Hall has a Sela Ward feel.
| by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 12, 2018 3:34 PM |
Who is top billed on Days of our Lives?
| by Anonymous | reply 14 | November 12, 2018 3:36 PM |
I don't think it's really fair to compare the two, Dierdre is really ten years YOUNGER than her given age, so they're really not piers.
| by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 12, 2018 3:38 PM |
Deidre and Susan are the same age - 71
| by Anonymous | reply 16 | November 12, 2018 3:39 PM |
Hall caused a picket line at NBC with fans angry that her character was supposedly killed on-screen (it turned out to be Marlena's twin).
| by Anonymous | reply 17 | November 12, 2018 3:39 PM |
Hall had a better career since she had several years on a primetime show in addition to a couple centuries on daytime TV. Lucci is the iconic daytime star...but if we’re looking at career, I say Hall.

Although their acting can be wooden.

R18 Susan Lucci has had Broadway ya know
Hall has never set foot on a Broadway stage (Susan has TWO Broadway credits to her name) + Susan Lucci has starred in her own primetime series - Devious Maids as well as recurring on TV "Dallas" in its final year, while she was on AMC at the same time.

Dierdre admitted many years ago that she came to Hollywood as a young teen and nobody would cast her age appropriately because she already looked like she was in her twenties, so her agent suggested she add ten years onto her age so she could get cast in things. Next thing you know, she's Electra Woman. I think in real life Dyna Girl was quiet a bit older than her.
| by Anonymous | reply 23 | November 12, 2018 3:48 PM |
R23 evidence? How come her twin sister Andrea looks so old?
| by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 12, 2018 4:05 PM |
Also Susan Lucci is the only soap star to have Guest Hosted Saturday Night Live
| by Anonymous | reply 25 | November 12, 2018 4:09 PM |
I could see Deidre on a prime time television show or a movie. I can’t see Susan in prime time or movies. Susan is type cast.

[quote] Do they harbor ill will toward each other?
One time when Susan was hosting the Emmys she got a standing ovation (after she lost Best Actress of the umpteenth time) She came back to the stage to intro Deidre Hall to present, and Susan got that 3 minute standing ovation - for losing
When Deidre took to the stage, she didn't look happy as it looked as if she was annoyed that Susan stole her thunder..
| by Anonymous | reply 28 | November 12, 2018 4:22 PM |
No contest. Definitely Lucci. The best known and probably highest paid soap star ever. She is known outside of Daytime too. Hall, not so much.
Lucci got tons of press outside of daytime. Hall hasn't.
R26 Really? She has done both. She is in demand for projects, even now. She branched out into many different areas and kept her name out there.
| by Anonymous | reply 29 | November 12, 2018 4:26 PM |
R23 So she posed for those nudie pics for the nudie magazines when she 10 then? Yeah right. Just a poor attempt to shave years off her real age.
| by Anonymous | reply 30 | November 12, 2018 4:32 PM |
And, I don’t know anything she’s in R29. But, I do know what Deidre Hall was in like Our House back in the 80s and I was five when it aired.
| by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 12, 2018 4:39 PM |
Loved Hall in Wiseguy. Her character was a bright spot in that story arc. Lucci was a dud on her role on Dallas.
| by Anonymous | reply 32 | November 12, 2018 4:51 PM |
R32 Deidre Hall only that role, because she was married to the producer of Wise Guy At the time.
| by Anonymous | reply 33 | November 12, 2018 4:52 PM |
Devious Maids was on for longer than Our House. Lucci's Dallas role was hyped quite a bit. Dallas was on it's last leg at the time, though. Just bad for the most part.
Lucci starred in around a dozen TV movies in the 80s and 90s also. Hall didn't have the clout to pull that off.
| by Anonymous | reply 34 | November 12, 2018 4:53 PM |
Lucci has a mystery television series in the works at Hallmark.

Deidre Hall was married to Michael J. Dubelko - who president of Stephen J. Cannell productions, which produced "Wise Guy"
| by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 12, 2018 5:00 PM |
Did her producer husband know that she was really only 22 years old at the time?
| by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 12, 2018 6:18 PM |
Susan also hosted Saturday Night Live, the only daytime soap star to be given that honor.
Kelly Ripa hosted, but that was after she left AMC and started with Regis.

When Deidre returned to Days of our Lives in 1991 she made all kinds of demands. She wanted a development deal, a production deal, guaranteed part in an NBC Move of the week (of her choosing), her own wardrobe consultant at a salary of 1 million dollars. NBC had to pay for part of her salary, because Corday productions didn't have that type of money, even after letting go several actors to pay for Dee salary demands.
But the perk that got the biggest news was her demand for the own dressing room with its own private bathroom and shower.
Contrast that with Susan Lucci who made more than Deidre at that time (1.2 million) but shared a dressing like everyone else on the show. They were three to a dressing room. And nobody complained, as even Susan Lucci shared a dressing room. None of them had a private bathroom.
Another demand Deidre asked for his "star" billing. She couldn't get top billing as original cast member MacDonald Carey was top billed. So she setting for end billing "...and Deidre Hall as Dr. Marlena Evans"
Contrast that with Susan Lucci who could have demanded top billing, but chose to be billed like everyone else on the show, in alphabetical order.
Outrageous that Deidre was really throwing her weight around, as Days was stuck in 7th place (out of 12 soaps) while All My Children was healthy 3rd in the ratings. And Susan Lucci never asked for any of these perks that Deidre did.
| by Anonymous | reply 40 | November 12, 2018 7:13 PM |
I was in an NBC move of the week.
| by Anonymous | reply 41 | November 12, 2018 7:20 PM |
How come Dee never got any of these movies? Who were canned to pay for her return?
| by Anonymous | reply 42 | November 13, 2018 4:54 PM |
R42 Dee did TONS of made for TV movies as well, check her IMDB
I remember the 1994 Emmys when Susan Lucci and Drake Hogestyn, Dee's costar and forever love interest on DAYS, hosted and they had amazing chemistry, even playing lovers in a soap spoof that aired as a clip at the Emmy awards, I remember thinking how passionate their kiss seemed
Deidre must of been fuming!
| by Anonymous | reply 43 | November 13, 2018 5:20 PM |
Does anyone know what year Dierdre's tasteful nude pictorial in the now defunct adult periodical 'Muff Parade' was published?
| by Anonymous | reply 44 | November 13, 2018 5:34 PM |
R43 She did do quite a few, but how many of those was she billed as the top star? One she did mainly co-starred other soap stars. I do love that her character in one was named 'Muff Graham'. Too funny.
Lucci was the top billed star of nearly all of hers and they got a lot of promotion.

[quote] Dee did TONS of made for TV movies as well,
Not true, during the time she made her triumphant return to DAYS in 1991 to her firing in 2009, he only did TWO TV-Movie
one being part of her NBC contract (Woman On Ledge) and the other one (OP-Centre) because her third husband was the producer.
Contrast that with Susan Lucci who squeezed in one TV-Movie a year.

R48 here oops forgot about the made-for TV movie where she played herself "Never Say Never - The Deidre Hall Story"

R46 Her Hubby also wrote and produced the pulpy, yet brilliant mini series "Favorite Son". I could easily imagine Deidre playing the Linda Koslowski role.
