CSI Vegas reboot. Trailer here.
William Jenkins
William Petersen is looking like a silver fox again! It looks like (they made him?) lose some weight. Generic hottie Matt Lauria is also in this reboot.

I had a wet dream about Petersen in this trailer. He was a stodgy beefcake at the start of CSI!

Is Miss George Eads coming back?
| by Anonymous | reply 2 | May 22, 2021 1:05 AM |
I guess covid is making everyone come out of mothballs, even those who swore they have retired. Money talks.
| by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 22, 2021 1:12 AM |
R2 no, closeted George isn't coming back for the reboot. Probably burned that bridge when he stormed off the CBS MacGyver set a few years ago and ended his contract.
I wonder how much Petersen and open lez Jorja are being offered. At the end of Petersen's run, he was paid $600,000 per episode (in 2009!)
| by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 22, 2021 1:36 AM |
Wow. I didn't know this show had even gone away in the first place.
| by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 22, 2021 1:50 AM |
Sara and Grissom had NO chemistry.....they didn't work as a couple
| by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 22, 2021 2:32 AM |
Agree R6 and it was a totally uninteresting storyline. Hope they don't focus on that anymore. Stick to the fucking cases, like Criminal Minds does.
| by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 5, 2021 10:21 PM |
But Criminal Minds is awful
| by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 5, 2021 11:18 PM |
I had such a crash on him when he was on CSI in the early 00s. he's one of those guys that did nothing for me when he was younger, looking too nebbish for my taste, until he reemerged as a hot silver daddy. He still looks good for his age.
| by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 5, 2021 11:41 PM |
I was just going to write that r6. Terrible couple. If they had to pair Grissom with someone it should have been Catherine or maybe Lady Heather.
| by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 5, 2021 11:50 PM |
They have about as much chemistry as Mariska Hargitay did with Bill Pullman on SVU
| by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 6, 2021 12:38 AM |
I just tried to watch the 1st episode and it's so shit I couldn't even finish. Acting is cringeworthy, especially Jorja Fox, with her overblown facial expressions. She looks like she's having a stroke. And she has very prominent smoker skin. I didn't even hang around for WP to show up. Would rather watch his full frontal in Manhunter on repeat than this shit.
| by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 7, 2021 8:16 PM |
Couldn't they find another Who song for this? The Vegas aerial footage seems old too. What a disappointment that was last night.
| by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 7, 2021 8:57 PM |
I enjoyed it but I was a big fan of the original 20 years ago so it was nice seeing the characters again. Jorja was always sort of a twitchy actor so I thought she fell back into the character really well. She had some more lines on her face but other than that it felt like no time had passed.
Didn’t take to too many of the new characters though so that could be a problem going forward if Peterson is extremely limited in his appearances (he only had one blink and you’ll miss it scene at the very end of last night’s episode.) I liked Paula Newsome as the head of the lab but the young field CSIs were annoying. And does every coroner character on TV have to be quirky in some way?
| by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 7, 2021 9:40 PM |
Is Hodges going to be a main character? Or is he more of a occasional guest star?
| by Anonymous | reply 16 | October 8, 2021 1:17 AM |
Since William Petersen is leaving. Jorja Fox is leaving too because she believes that Sara and Grissom would leave together. Catherine may be coming back as Marg Helgenberger is said to be in early negotiations about a possible return.

Marg is too old and too plastique to reprise her role. It's the harsh, unfair truth that men can be schlubby/dumpy and in their 60's+ and still have a lead role on tv, but women cannot. Idk why the producers do not trust the new cast introduced in the reboot season 1 to carry the show and insist on bringing back the original stars from 20 years ago.
The moustachioed hispanic coroner from the reboot is also not returning for season 2. Not like he has many other gigs it seems.

Is anyone watching season 2? Full episode is on CBS' youtube for a few days now. Matt Lauria... wow. A modern day hot George Eads type although Lauria is already 40.
| by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 1, 2022 9:13 PM |
Matt Lauria looks hot from what I've seen, any fans?
Marg still looks good for her age.
| by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 29, 2022 10:03 AM |
I like the lead, Paula Newsome, quite a lot.
A lot of the rest of the cast aren’t the best actors.
| by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 29, 2022 10:10 AM |
I really enjoyed the first season of this reboot. Liked seeing Sara and Grisham again. Always liked those characters.
Not especially enjoying this second season. Catherine Willows was never that interesting a character. Maybe if George Eads came back, they could give it the old school feel with the two of them.
Of the new cast members, Paula Newsome is great! I like her character a lot. Don't really care about any of the rest of them, although Matt Lauria is certainly nice to look at.
| by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 29, 2022 10:18 AM |
R20 yeah, Matt Lauria is hot. He resembles an older Tom Holland in the mouth and cheekbones and this character even has the same earnestness! I'm surprised Lauria has almost no fans on social media, as no one under 55 watches CBS maybe.
I've watched a few Lauria interviews and unfortunately the actor himself seems a bit vapid and dumb. Still hot though.
I wouldn't expect George Eads back at CBS ever. He burned that bridge by storming off CSI and the MacGyver reboot sets.
| by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 29, 2022 3:52 PM |
Did they give Grissom much to do in S1? I'm tempted to watch for nostalgia, but only if he's in it properly.
Could never stand that misery Sara, what a sourpuss. Grissom had much btmetter chemistry with Catherine in the early days.
| by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 29, 2022 3:55 PM |
[quote] I personally just can’t split Sara and Grissom up again. So goes Grissom… So goes Sara. Wherever they go, they belong together. - Jorja Fox about why she left after season 1.
Yeah, that's plausible. I can totally see why she "quit" after season 1. Why would an actor stay for another season and lots of pay checks if her character rather would like to leave with someone she loves. There is no way an actor would want to stay in this case. Who ever wrote her that statement should be fired.
| by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 29, 2022 6:07 PM |
Is Willows back? (To be honest, I forgot this show was rebooted - but I liked it back in the day.)
| by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 29, 2022 6:11 PM |
Yes, she’s back for the season, joining the team while also investigating the disappearance of a mentee.
| by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 29, 2022 6:29 PM |
We have so many of those in Florida!
| by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 29, 2022 7:20 PM |
R25 probably an ego thing. Jorja didn't want to return for season 2 as it might reveal her to be the Garfunkel in Simon & Garfunkel. We know Petersen is the Paul Simon who draws in viewers, is Jorja? Ratings are underwhelming, this might be the last season.
| by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 30, 2022 2:49 AM |
They care only about international sales and streaming. Can’t judge today’s shows by yesterday’s standards.
I get her impression that Jorja just wants to live her life. She occasionally comes back and commands big bucks, allowing her to go back to the life she enjoys.
| by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 30, 2022 11:07 AM |
If CBS cared about the show’s linear ratings, they’d run it at 9 pm, when it would do much bigger numbers. But they don’t, and it’s a big piece of IP for them.
| by Anonymous | reply 31 | October 30, 2022 11:08 AM |
I'm surprised Petersen hasn't done another big show, he's a very natural actor and seems professional
| by Anonymous | reply 32 | October 30, 2022 11:46 AM |
I’ve been enjoying this season with Marg Helgenberger back. Although her face work is frightening- it looks like there’s a huge gash on one of her cheeks. I wish I liked the rest of the cast more. I couldn’t name one of the new characters.
| by Anonymous | reply 33 | October 30, 2022 11:56 AM |
I loved the original CSI and watched every episode. I loved the characters. The reboot is very underwhelming. There isn’t a single character I care about.
| by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 30, 2022 12:32 PM |
[quote] I'm surprised Petersen hasn't done another big show
He is still listed as executive producer, even in season 02. Usually when the main actor is also listed as producer it's just a vanity title to justify a higher salary. I thought that this was the case here too in season 01. But he still has the title. Can it be he is actually a producer on the show - still?
| by Anonymous | reply 35 | October 30, 2022 2:49 PM |
He gets a piece of the pie. I’m sure he negotiated that back in the day.
They are clearly tinkering with the supporting cast in season one. In season one, Lauria’s character engaged in an ongoing flirtation with the British CSI, which was trite. Season two started with him now dating the new investigator. They’ve ignored that story the last few shows.
They were right to dump last season’s ME. He added nothing.
| by Anonymous | reply 36 | October 30, 2022 2:55 PM |
R32 yeah, Petersen has a commanding screen presence, but he has had health and heart problems since at least 2004 (in the early seasons of CSI. Entertainment news used to report vaguely on it).
He always looked older than his age and he has not aged well, he definitely follows the straight man's lifestyle of red meat, smoking and such. CBS head has said Petersen is welcome back on CSI anytime (something any actor would kill for), but he's done with the strenuous and repetitive nature of filming I think.
| by Anonymous | reply 37 | October 31, 2022 2:35 AM |
Forgive me for not being up to speed on this question, but what is it that George Eads did that makes him persona non grata with CBS and CSI?
Nick Stokes was a far more interesting character than Catherine Willows.
| by Anonymous | reply 38 | October 31, 2022 2:58 AM |
I wonder if Eric Szmanda was asked if he wanted to return? He did 333 episodes in the original.
Offsite Link| by Anonymous | reply 39 | October 31, 2022 10:58 AM |
R38 how was Nick an interesting character? He had the depth of an ashtray. At least Catherine was a former stripper with mob connections and a wayward daughter.
| by Anonymous | reply 40 | October 31, 2022 11:59 AM |
Last night I watched season 2’s first episode. I like that they got rid of the guy with the weird moustache. The changes so far have improved the show. Good to see Marg back.
| by Anonymous | reply 41 | October 31, 2022 10:28 PM |
Why was Marg Helgenbergers character always smirking at innapropriate times?
| by Anonymous | reply 42 | October 31, 2022 10:32 PM |
I mean in the old version of the show. I haven't watched the reboot. She always looked sociopathically happy .
| by Anonymous | reply 43 | October 31, 2022 10:33 PM |
I never got the Grissom/Sara romance. It would've made more sense as a mutual bearding situation. Willows is more entertaining--does she still make snarky mean girl comments about the dead bodies?
| by Anonymous | reply 44 | October 31, 2022 10:35 PM |
Marg Helegenbergerhoffenmeister looks like Lara Flynn Boyle after the work but before it went too far and then that went wrong.
| by Anonymous | reply 45 | October 31, 2022 10:50 PM |
She should have asked Deidre Hall who her surgeon is
| by Anonymous | reply 46 | November 1, 2022 8:59 AM |
They should bring back the actress who played the sweet new girl in the original premiere episode that the obnoxious gambling addict guy gets killed on her first day by leaving her alone on a crime scene to go place a bet.
| by Anonymous | reply 47 | November 1, 2022 2:35 PM |
Yeah Warrick was an annoying Jerk, I don't know why he was protected from the consequences of his actions
| by Anonymous | reply 48 | November 1, 2022 6:25 PM |
The actor himself also turned out to be a piece of shit.
| by Anonymous | reply 49 | November 1, 2022 10:17 PM |
So I'm watching the first season now, it isn't bad but the Grissom scenes are the best. Matt Laura is cute and charming.
So many of the supporting cast & guest actors are amateurish and some episode crimes aren't interesting but not terrible.
| by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 10, 2023 7:31 PM |
Does anyone know more about Matt Lauria? He is great looking, married with the same woman for 17 years by now. That means they must have married when he was just 23. No kids.
| by Anonymous | reply 51 | April 4, 2023 10:49 PM |
I’m still watching - season 2 now. The show couldn’t survive without the original cast - Petersen and Fox in season 1 and Helgenberger this season. The supporting characters in this reboot don’t make me care about them like the original did.

This was my late husband's favorite show and he learned some tips. Once I dropped a pill on the floor and looked and looked and couldn't find it. He came along with a flashlight and presto! found it right away. I also left my phone out in the rain so he dried the outside with a cloth then put it in a bowl with uncooked rice and it worked.
| by Anonymous | reply 53 | April 4, 2023 11:29 PM |
R41 Lauria doesn't have IG or any social media. There was an interview for CSI (so, recent-ish), where he says he's vegan. His body looks great for being 40 and vegan, but I suppose 40 is still young to keep things toned.
I totally agree. He has a great face and has decent amount of screen charisma. He coulda been a poorer man's Chris Pine in movies, instead he's schlepping it on a CBS procedural no one under 60 watches.

This ancientgay is watching this version of CSI for the first time. I didn't like the original version. Worst dramatic exposition ever, characters telling each other things they must already know or they wouldn't have the jobs they have. I did watch CSI: Miami, though. I always liked Caruso, and the fact that the entire city wore the same color clothing, well, I just thought it was wonderful.
As for this show, I really like Paula Newsome. I just do. And Matt Lauria, of course. I've liked him since Friday Night Lights. He was the reason I tuned in to see this version of the show. As usual with the CBS procedurals, the cases aren't that interesting, but the interactions among the characters can be nice. Matt Lauria needs more opportunities to work with his shirt off. And that's that.
