Chris Evans IS Gene Kelly!
John Thompson
Aww, baby's finally got his musical!

“ The film is about a 12 year old boy who works on the MGM Lot in 1952 and begins to create an imagined friendship with the legendary movie star Gene Kelly while working on his next film.”
LBH this is pretty damn gay.
| by Anonymous | reply 2 | January 4, 2022 10:23 PM |
This film is going to take in $100 at the box-office total.
| by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 4, 2022 11:02 PM |
Is he going to dress up like a sailor and dance? It could be good.
| by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 4, 2022 11:16 PM |
I guess they have to do an imaged Gene Kelly if they don’t want to portray him as the asshole he was.
| by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 4, 2022 11:21 PM |
America is clamoring for a film about Gene Kelly,
| by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 4, 2022 11:22 PM |
Don't plan your trip to the movies yet, this is basically an idea bring thrown around right now.
We will see if it actually happens.
| by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 4, 2022 11:22 PM |
This is the kind of project Apple pays a fortune for and no one ever sees.
| by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 5, 2022 12:01 AM |
How will they handle the spat between Gene and Stanley?
Will Vincente be overt?
Will they include Babs?
| by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 5, 2022 12:06 AM |
Can Chris tap and dance in general. Gene Kelly was more of an athletic dancer.
| by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 5, 2022 12:16 AM |
He doesn't have the ass to play Gene Kelly.
| by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 5, 2022 12:17 AM |
They are different types of buttocks. Dancers have very specific types of bodies and buttocks. Evans has a pretty standard bodybuilder butt.

With Josh Logan at the helm, it will surely be smash!
| by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 5, 2022 11:25 AM |
Gene Kelly wasn't gay. He was straight.
| by Anonymous | reply 16 | January 5, 2022 11:46 AM |
Reminds me of the gay themed romcom A Touch of Pink where Kyle MacLachlan plays the imaginary friend, Cary Grant, of a grown up gay man.

Or Woody Allen’s Play It Again, Sam.
| by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 5, 2022 12:04 PM |
The description of the plot sounds like it came from someone with massive father issues. I know Evans was raised by his divorced mother.
Evans also wanted to play the sadistic dentist in the planned remake of Little Shop. His father? A dentist.
| by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 5, 2022 12:31 PM |
Will there be a Gotta Dance sequence?

[quote]I know Evans was raised by his divorced mother.
And she was every bit of a stereotypical overbearing, smothering Italian momma.
| by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 5, 2022 7:26 PM |
Yes I I understand he was the Dainty June to his mother’s Rose.
| by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 5, 2022 7:30 PM |
I'd buy Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Kelly.
| by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 5, 2022 8:32 PM |
It's funny how these Marvel actors are all playing dancers now--Evans as Gene Kelly and Tom Holland as Fred Astaire. Maybe Andrew Garfield can play Ann Miller or Cyd Charisse.
| by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 5, 2022 8:46 PM |
By the time this comes out, its Boomer audience will be dead of Covid.
| by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 5, 2022 8:49 PM |
r13 That shot fooled a lot of people into thinking that Evans had a big, juicy ass. He doesn't.
| by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 5, 2022 8:55 PM |
[quote] I'd buy Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Kelly.
Then you must be sufficiently blind to buy a Brooklyn Bridge. Or sufficiently blind to accept Darfur Orphan as Henry Cavill.
| by Anonymous | reply 28 | January 5, 2022 9:17 PM |
JGL has shown he can dance at least r28.
Can Chris Evans actually dance?
| by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 5, 2022 9:25 PM |
Please, R29, Kelly was a muscle-filled sex symbol
Leavitt has the all the sex appeal of a waif from Auschwitz.
| by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 5, 2022 9:29 PM |
Chris Evans must be pushing 40 and has a tall stately carriage which, if anything, more closely resembles the stately but balding Michael Wilding.
Offsite Link| by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 5, 2022 9:50 PM |
Why is not Tom Hardy playing Gene? He looks so much more like him and has the build. This is laughable to think blandy McBlanderson Evans could be like Gene Kelly. Gene Kelly was bi sex on stick even if he was an asshole.
| by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 5, 2022 9:54 PM |
I don't credit Kelly as being "bi" but he was all physique and very little brain.
He was furious and envious that an English arty film could rake in $7,000,000.

who will play olivia newton-john?
| by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 5, 2022 10:05 PM |
The best Gene Kelly casting I can think of is Zac Efron who is 5’8” to Kelly’s 5’7”. Chris Evans is just too big.
| by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 5, 2022 10:34 PM |
Who's playing Barbra Streisand in the Hello Dolly scenes?
| by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 5, 2022 10:38 PM |
The Cole Porter biopic failed. The Howard Hughes biopic failed. The Gloria Grahame biopic failed. The Vivien and Larry biopic failed disastrously.
I can't think of one which was vaguely credible.
| by Anonymous | reply 37 | January 5, 2022 10:40 PM |
The Aviator failed? News to me.
| by Anonymous | reply 38 | January 5, 2022 11:14 PM |
R38 Did you enjoy it and its bizarre coloring and inordinate length?
| by Anonymous | reply 39 | January 5, 2022 11:15 PM |
This is a really lame thread. Someone’s trying very hard to create another gay celebrity out of thin air.
| by Anonymous | reply 41 | January 5, 2022 11:24 PM |
R38 I thought it was overlong and the weird coloring (which Scorsese claimed was true to vintage Technicolor) was very distracting.
But I do admit that Cate Blankett was vaguely convincing as Hepburn. She physically approximated Hepburn's stature and voice a lot more than tall Chris Evans can replicate the short and muscley Gene Kelly.
| by Anonymous | reply 42 | January 5, 2022 11:30 PM |
The very best Hepburn impression performance is Tovah Feldshuh, in the TV movie "The Amazing Howard Hughes." Tovah is tiny, but she really gets the young KH voice and manner.

I think an unmarried 40 year old man with Gene Kelly daddy issues is worth questioning.

How about Jamie Bell, who says he's 5'7"? He was the original Billy Elliott, and Billy Elliott can dance!

Darren Criss would be the best choice to play Kelly.
| by Anonymous | reply 46 | January 6, 2022 12:56 AM |
Whoever they get has to have good facial features - big expressive eyes, nice lips, good cheekbones - that project the way Kelly's did. The man had gorgeous eyes, Evans has beady little piss-holes in the snow eyes.
| by Anonymous | reply 47 | January 6, 2022 1:14 AM |
R30 Waif? When's the last time you saw JGL? .. He's been been pumped up for awhile now, ever since he did "Don Jon." "Men's Health" even did a feature on his muscle gain routine. Plus, at 5'9, he's more similar to Kelly's 5'7 frame.

[quote] He's been been pumped up for awhile now
You're talking about him from the neck down.
From the neck up he resembles a bilious Chinaman

| by Anonymous | reply 52 | January 25, 2022 12:53 AM |
Kelly's ass should be in the Smithsonian.
Offsite Link| by Anonymous | reply 53 | January 25, 2022 12:56 AM |
Justin Trudeau's ass could play Gene Kelly's ass.
| by Anonymous | reply 54 | January 25, 2022 12:58 AM |
R56 You say Gene Kelly hated gays yet starred in six or so movies with Vincent Minnelli fluttering over him.
And appeared in two by George Cukor.
| by Anonymous | reply 59 | January 25, 2022 7:08 AM |
r59 Gene Kelly's remarks about gays are easily searchable.
| by Anonymous | reply 60 | January 25, 2022 7:24 AM |
Gene Kelly would approve of Justin Trudeau's ass though.
| by Anonymous | reply 61 | January 26, 2022 10:10 PM |
[quote]Gene Kelly's remarks about gays are easily searchable.
And so what? He was a man of the times. And probably actually more evolved than most.
| by Anonymous | reply 62 | January 26, 2022 10:23 PM |
So he hated gays yet was working in Hollywood as a dancer no less. Hate must have been a daily obstacle for him.
| by Anonymous | reply 63 | January 27, 2022 7:11 AM |
He's presenting hole, R64!
| by Anonymous | reply 65 | January 28, 2022 11:52 AM |
Channing Tatum IS Gene Kelly!
He's got the buttocks.
He's got the dumb 'Take -Off-Your-Pants' sex appeal.
| by Anonymous | reply 66 | February 2, 2022 8:32 PM |
Chris Evans is too hot and too tall to play Gene.
