Breaking: Designing Women reboot
James Williams
"ABC has given a script commitment to a show from "Designing Women" creators Linda Bloodworth Thomason and Harry Thomason for a show that would be a continuation to the CBS series that ran from 1986-1993, a source familiar with the development of the show confirmed to CNN."

I just read it, it will be new characters.

They need to bring back all the living original cast as guest stars. Linda and her husband wrote a smart sitcom 30yrs ago, it'll be fabulous to see what they can do in the peak tv era!

The article says it's a continuation of the series, whatever that means.
With all the cast changes, we know that it's the chemistry between the four mains (and Anthony) that made the show, not one individual person. Without that dynamic, it failed miserably.
"They Shoot Fat Women, Don't They" was a great episode that addressed Suzanne's weight gain at her high school reunion. Funny and smart.

It's not like I'm going to enter the banquet room followed by a tidal wave.

Which black or hispanic actresses will play the Sugarbaker sisters?
| by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 14, 2018 4:36 AM |
Will they be giving Hillary a role? She needs the work.

Delta needed to jump back on that exercise bike and make herself beautiful again. She admitted the weight gain was the result of crippling insecurities, not realizing how beautiful she was.

Looking forward to this, Linda will deliver.

How will it be a continuation with all new characters?
Still, looking forward to some LBT diatribes against the Trump WH.

It can be a continuation with similar characters. People will probably be saying, oh she's the new Julia, he's the new Anthony, etc. Linda found a great cast before, she can do it again.

Lens Dunham has been cast as Noel.

Obviously she would never do it unless forced to by gun point but Lily Rabe would be sensational as Alison Sugarbaker.
r11 - Delta couldn’t back peddle hard enough.

Enough with the reboots but, if it has to happen then Delta needs to be part of it but does she even want to work anymore?

All the original actresses need to be back or else it wouldn't work like Roseanne without Roseanne doens't work.

PC will demand one be black, one be transgender, one be a women's rights advocate, and the other be a brilliant business executive or scientist.

We pretty much covered that on the original show, r21.

Suzanne: I know I've put on a bit of weight but I'll just wear something long to cover it up
Julia: You've gained weight in your face, and it's more than just a little
Suzanne: All right that does it, the way you all talk I ought to be buying fabric from Georgia Tent and Awning. Now I'll get in my Mercedes and drive home, that is if the streets can stand the weight.

RE: Monet, Charlene's friend who is a prostitute.
Julia: You can put any kind of spin on it you want, but what you do demeans all women
Suzanne: And it doesn't make no economic sense, for instance, I can guarantee you don't make half as much money as me.
Julia: Four ex-husband's alimony
Monet: THIS is YOUR sister?
Julia: She demeans us too, but her I can deal with.

Suzanne: And I hate it when men use women's lib as an excuse not to kill the bug. I don't care what anyone says, it's a man's job to kill the bugs.

Delta doesn't look like herself anymore due to so much cosmetic surgery, it's almost painful to look at her.

It'll only be worth watching if Li Sing now runs the business.

Calm down dear fraus ...Delta will only get an occasional guest shot like Mackenzie Phillips on the One Day At A Time reboot. Suzanne will be a Trump supporter for political jokes. But take heart, Hilary will do a guest shot.
A continuation sounds like it will be the Sugarbaker children like the Thirtysomething reboot. Guaranteed one of the main characters will be a man and the rest more "woke."
Besides Dixie is dead...Annie is in a show with solid ratings...Jean Smart has been successful in theater and doesnt seem to want to go back to sitcom. And Delta's spinoff was a flop.
