Changing pronouns indeed changes nothing about the pronoun changer but tends to make these people feel "special," make communication disingenuous, promote sexist stereotypes, and feed delusions along with cancel culture. Boy George was one of the ones pushing back against gender norms, unlike the trans brigade of today who do nothing but try to make it more rigid than it already was. One of the reasons redneck guys are against it, is they are afraid people will want to "trans" their huntin, fishin, tomboy, daddy's girls. In their own way Boy George and those rednecks are on the same side, because they are both saying look gender expression isn't clear cut, but a guy wanting to wear makeup or a girl not wanting to wear make up doesn't mean they need to switch sexes.

Pete Burns was a million times the man and singer and performer Boy George was. Boy was ruined by drug addiction and only had a year or two of being good. Pete Burns was great until killing himself with horrible plastic surgery but at least he could sing until the very end. Boy has been terrible 98% of the time.

Boy George was breaking gender norms without claiming to actually be the opposite sex 30 years ago. Many of the rock stars of the 70s and 80s did. Pete Burns, Annie Lennox, David Bowie, all the frilly-shirted eyeliner straight guys like Duran Duran, etc. and every hair metal band.
The "trans" movement thinks that all these people were trapped in the wrong body but they were just fucking around with sex stereotypes, which is a lot braver than reifying gender expectations.

If you’re a boy and like wearing Mom’s high heels (like I did) then you must be a woman inside.
I don’t understand it because that mentality was something I was taught by kids and adults growing up and it was totally homophobic. “That’s for girls!”.
