Body Wash SUCKS
Robert Spencer
I tried it out for the first time the other night. It’s awful. I stood in the shower for 20 minutes trying to get the soap goo off of me. I towel dried my skin and still felt like I had soap gel grime all over me. So much for that experiment back to buying regular soap.

I knew this place had gone downhill over the years, but I didn't realize we actually had posters too stupid to use liquid soap.
| by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 27, 2019 5:36 AM |
It’s the moisturizer/glycerin.
I find that soap leaves hard water scum on me, personally. But I have hard water.
| by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 27, 2019 5:36 AM |
I’m not a fan. I like an old-fashioned bar of soap.
| by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 27, 2019 5:39 AM |
I hate body wash and I only use old fashioned bar soap. Bar soap makes me feel clean whereas body wash feels like an oily scum left on me.

| by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 27, 2019 5:48 AM |
R8 Calm down Linda! The whole point of the thread was to say that I tried it and hated it. Already bought new soap
| by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 27, 2019 5:48 AM |
You either: Used an inferior brand of body wash like old spice with added humectants in it, OR, didn't use a loofah. 20 minutes to rinse it off? I question your credibility here.

OP, I've got two words for you: Dr. Bronner's. Lathers a treat, washes off completely with no residue. And you can use it for hair, body, face and to brush your teeth. The best is the Peppermint fragrance, though it might smart your balls and delicate bits.
| by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 27, 2019 5:57 AM |
Body soap causes death.
I know a girl that used it and then she died. I’m not taking a chance.
| by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 27, 2019 5:58 AM |
Okay - just gonna put this out there. There was this documentary on Netflix about "Fragrance" and how it gets added to everything out there, and it's full of toxic compounds that no one really knows anything about. That being said, I watched it months ago, and told myself when I finally ran out of what I had, I would switch to something a little less toxic - I ended up just buying Dr Bronner's because it was the only thing that didn't have full-on chemicals laced all through it. Just took my first shower and it was lovely.

| by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 27, 2019 6:40 AM |
You didn't use it correctly. As has been pointed out, you needed to use it with a loofah or scrubbing towel. You also obviously used way too much.
| by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 27, 2019 6:49 AM |
R16, I noticed when I was using a friend’s Tide with Bleach Alternative, which I hate, that a sort of sticky blue glop stayed in the measuring cup.
I normally use Boulder, which is unscented and uncolored. I buy it at Costco. I had the two measuring cups together. The Tide one was full of sticky blue glop, the Boulder one was clean. That sold me.

Not a fan of body wash. Prefer to buy unusual soaps.
Right now I am using a bar of Asian sandalwood soap that smells great. Got it at a local Asian grocery.

I use a body wash and vape too. Am I going to die?
| by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 27, 2019 8:29 AM |
Yes, from terminal idiocy.
| by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 27, 2019 8:31 AM |
R21, I have had that same soap! I got it at Winco.
If you have a Winco near you, they have some very nice oatmeal, almond and lavender soaps. The almond smells lovely. It comes without a wrapper and looks handmade. I put it in a clear plastic produce bag.
Another good place for hand-milled soaps is Tuesday Morning, or sometimes Home Goods. Lavender soap, with real lavender bits in it is my favorite. It’s supposed to be calming if you use the real stuff.
R22 must be a ghost haunting the DL. No way could he both vape and use body wash and still be alive. That’s living too dangerously for just one life form. Settle down, Evel Kneviel.

I'm the perfect body wash demographic. Too fat to maneuver bar soap all around. Body wash and a long-handle loofah works great for me. There are many all natural ones without the chemicals. Red Flower is amazing.
| by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 27, 2019 8:36 AM |
I shower with these. The creme is the best most gentle soap out there, and the oatmeal is an excellent exfoliant and treats dry skin.

R28 I once stole a bar of that exact soap from the Chinese grocery store as a child. Nobody was surprised when I turned out gay.

I was told be a skin specialist years ago that the only places where you should use any kind of soap/shampoo etc, is on your head, for shaving facial hair, your underarms and the never never regions (i.e. your cock and man pussy). Do not use soap, body wash or shampoo anywhere else on your body because it dries the skin and ages you. Worked for me, despite being in my 50's I still have the skin of somebody in their late 20's/early 30s.
| by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 27, 2019 9:44 AM |

| by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 27, 2019 11:04 AM |

| by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 27, 2019 11:07 AM |
I agree with OP. I love the idea of body wash but in practice I prefer a bar of soap.
| by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 27, 2019 11:13 AM |
My hypothesis is that body wash is preferred by younger people who do not use washcloths.
Using body wash on wash cloths uses way too much body wash.
| by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 27, 2019 11:17 AM |
With body wash use just a dab. And spread very thinly.
| by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 27, 2019 11:18 AM |

| by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 27, 2019 11:36 AM |
Use a body wash that does not contain moisturizer. It's the moisturizer that gives a slimy feel.

R30 No I don't put soap on my face. It gets cleaned by shampoo when I was my fair and my water from the shower. It also gets a work over when I shave. There is no need to scrub ones face. Soap and bodywashers as poison and only age the skin. If you are dirty or covered in cum, sure you need to get the soap out but otherwise water (with the residue of shampoo from washing the hair) is all that is sufficient.

I'm surprised people don't use washcloths.
I'm more surprised that people rub the bar of soap on themselves directly, rather than lathering in their hands, then soaping up their bodies. What do you people shove the bar of soap in your butt cracks and think that's getting it clean?

Body washes need to be used with a washcloth or a luffa-type sponge or cloth. I found a mildly abrasive luffa cloth the size of a dishcloth. Leaves my skin feeling really smooth and eliminates those rough dry patches on elbows, feet, etc. Dove Bodywash for Men is good and rinses clean.

Bar soap is hideous. It's covered with germs after a few uses, it marks up or stains any part of the shower/bath it's in, and it's incredibly wasteful.
I much prefer body wash, but some ARE too soapy/detergent-y. As with anything else, cheaper is not better - it's usually way too strong and filled w/chemicals. Part of the reason I use body wash is because I have sensitive skin. Aveda's rosemary mint body wash is great for me - very nice scent and a clean feeling but with few (if any) chemicals.

I'm guessing that OP used a shower cream wash rather than a shower gel. Shower gels are fantastic :deep cleaning, fragrant, and convenient. Shower cream washes resemble lotions and do not clean properly. A big part of the problem with many body washes is that they dump large amounts of moisturizing ingredients in them. The trick is to find a clear shower gel.
