I wrote him a fan letter when he was a VJ on VH-1. Must have been around 1989, I was 19. He wrote me back and we corresponded for about a year, when I finally gave him my phone number and he called me!

He was coming to Austin, where I lived and went to college, and asked if I'd like to have dinner with him. I had never met a celebrity before, even a minor minor one, so I was thrilled.

Met him at his hotel, The Four Seasons, and he said he didn't feel like going out anywhere and if we could have room service in his room and watch a movie on pay per view. I'd never seen "Chinatown" before so he insisted that's what we watch.

Long story short (sorry too late) he came onto me and started kissing me and I didn't think of him like that, and he started crying and telling me how hard it was to be in the public eye. I thanked him for dinner and the movie and got the hell out of there.

RIP.
