Listening to them tonight. Their songs hold up quite well. Terri Nunn was never an icon like Debbie Harry, but her voice is just fine.

"Take My Breath Away" is their huge hit, but I like the moodiness and evocativeness of "The Metro" and the sexuality of "Sex (I'm A) ... "

Yes, but Masquerade is my favorite song. I forget what movie featured it. I didn't love the Moroder Top Gun song. Their earlier stuff had a real edge.

Yes, 100% yes. Berlin was a great band, and Teri is a great singer. And I mean that literally -- she is still a great singer. If you ever see her name on one of those giant package 80s bills, know that she will probably be one of the best singers of the night. She clearly knows how to take care of her voice, and she knows what her audience wants.

Masquerade was in the movie Perfect with John Travolta, so I'm embarrassed. I saw Berlin at Summerfest in Milwaukee right before covid, and they were spectacular for a small scale show/stage.

I remember Berlin got a lot of airplay on "the world-famous KROQ" - where D.J. Richard Blade (at link) was a big fan - so they were VERY popular in Los Angeles.

Saw the band twice in the early 80s. One time was at US Festival, which was an incredible experience. Teri Nunn (also at link) agrees.

Another time was at a very strange venue at the Hollywood Park Horse Racing Track, where the line-up was Thompson Twins / Berlin / The Fixx / The Police.

I used to get Berlin and Missing Persons confused. Terri and Dale's voices are different but the sounds and vibe were somewhat similar. At least in the beginning.

I do love Masquerade and Metro, and I will forever have vivid memories of going to the Chicago Eagle in the early 90s - a decade or so after Pleasure Victim was first released - and watching some guy who looked vaguely like Tony Goldwyn get fucked in the Eagle's basement by some big hairy leather guy as Sex (I'm A) played over the sound system. (The top fucked the load out of Not Tony, and his spurts were in time with the drum beats....it was all kind of hypnotic.)

Loved them since the 80's, followed them through their various incarnations all through the decades, bought avd loved every album... But when she performed at Mar a Lago for that homophobe after decades of saying she loved gay people, they lost me. I know the band was NOT Berlin (it was a house band) but that she would do that and then turn around and act like she didn't know Mar a Lago was Trump's place was unforgivable. Betraying decades of devotion requires a bigger apology than that. I bought the fucking elevator music orchestral boxed set, for fucks sake, and deserve a better apology.

I never heard that she backtracked on the Trump NYE concert. All I ever heard was that she closed replies to her IG for a time afterward since she was getting destroyed. So that's her official stance? She didn't know it was a Trump event? She speaks the bullshit. That said, I still listen to both "PLeasure Victim" and "Love Life" several times a year (I paid for them, so throwing them out would be counterproductive).

“I am truly sorry I performed at Mar-a-Lago and would not have done so if I’d known what I learned while I was there,” Nunn wrote in a social media statement posted under Berlin’s Facebook account. “My goal in performing was not to support a political party. I see now that that’s not the way it appeared and I am apologetic for that as well.”

I'm going to see Terri & Berlin in concert next Saturday night. Love Terri. So I googled and it doesn't appear she is a MAGA. Quite the opposite. 2 years ago she apologized properly and genuinely. There's no "I apologize if it made you feel..." - she said "I am truly sorry I did this for the following reasons"... That's a proper apology.

I think it was for the money and that's fine with me. People gotta work. It's a fact of life. I just hope she actually got paid from you know who.

I also watched some Berlin videos today and some extended remixes of their hits. No More Words, Dancing in Berlin, Sex I'm a..., Masquerade, The Metro. They were really good. Tight music and Terri's strong clear powerful voice. Really looking forward to seem them.

Terri who is beautiful and cool at age 62 is how I hoped Madonna would age. Gracefully and flawlessly with her own style.
