Bed & Breakfast - What is Tipping Etiquette?

Writer Daniel Martin

Can someone school me, please?

I'm coming up on retirement age but have never stayed at a B&B.

I'm looking at B&Bs in an area I'll be visiting soon. One is run by two women, they do all the cooking and offer breakfast in bed. I'll be having breakfast in bed, I don't fancy sitting down to breakfast with a bunch of strangers. Do I tip one of the owners each morning? At the end? Do these places have housekeeping that needs to be tipped?

If you are fortunate to be in a B&B and have the great fortune to be served breakfast in bed, then your privileged ass should be dripping with tip cash. Pampering for your royal highness is not cheap and should amount to a 50% tip up front,

To Insure Promptness.

Ask the owners if they share tips with their employees. If not, then $10-$20 a day for the lesser, not included staff is appropriate. In advance, it is especially important to anticipate you dying having sex at their establishment.

Consider it The Pamuk Permutation.

Tip at the end, 10-15 per night.

And can someone clarity if Lady Jane has Breakfast in bed on a bed tray but is served at a Bedroom table when "a tray is sent up".

"Breakfast trays for married women guests are usually carried to the bedroom floor by the butler (some butlers delegate this service to a footman) and are handed to the lady’s maid who takes the tray into the room. In small houses they are carried up by the waitress." ( Note to reader: single women eat at the Breakfast Table)

Well, seeing as how this is breakfast in bed, for married ladies only, I can also envisage OP in her tiara.
