Yes some of these women have had plastic surgery but have reached a point in their lives where they can say fuck it I can start to look old. Otherwise they'd look much older. Both Katherine Hepburn and Lansbury had a couple of lifts. Angela first at 40 when she was about to do Mame but then at the end it was pretty much I'm an old woman it's now ok to look old.

R48 Aging is inevitable and quite beautiful in its myriad forms. Regarding the women in this thread, they range from well-preserved to weathered, and each of them exhibits a beauty and unique history that lines their face., making them all the more alluring and captivating.

Catherine Oxenberg. Okay, she’s 61, hardly ancient and not a big name but she looks better than most women half her age. I don’t think the linked picture does her justice. She is stylish in an understated way, enviably slender and not trying to look younger than she is.
Her mother Elizabeth-she’s a Yugoslavian princess or something-is also very stylish and looks incredible for her age. It’s obvious she had work, but not obnoxiously so.
I feel like that quality of being chic and elegant, no matter the age, is a genetic trait as much as the physical aspect of it is.

Her face is unlined but she's about to give up the blonde highlights that she's been using to blend in the silver roots and embrace her gray. It's easy to figure out Janet Jackson's age. Research the years she was on the sitcom Good Times, you can easily see was was a child at the time. Then, do the math.
Her plastic surgery is so bad, it actually ages her.
Not all plastic surgery makes a person look younger, in many instances, it ages the person at least 10-15 years. Look at Madonna's awful surgery, she looks older than her actual age. To me, she looks to be in her 70s.

r119, she had a facelift after Blue Sky (1994) wrapped and before the Oscars for that year.
Most of the older Brits (Dench, Mirren to name for sure) just get a facelift and that's it. No botox or fillers, so they tend to look great for their age, but not necessarily younger.

My sister is 67, she doesn't have the sort of deep wrinkles on her face Jessica has. My sister has never had any work done, no plastic surgery and no Botox or fillers. My mom's siblings all look amazing at advanced ages.
My sister has taken care of her skin her entire life. What most people don't understand, taking care of your skin must start in your 20s. My sister has never smoked and drinks alcohol in moderation, usually a glass or two of wine when out to dinner. She doesn't drink hard liquor. She was never into tanning and always wears sunglasses when out walking in the sun.
My sister doesn't have crows feet or those deep wrinkles over the lips, which most smokers seem to have.
Stop posting that Jessica Lange looks good for her age. She doesn't. From the looks of her face, it seems she partied hard and also smoked. Or it's simply bad genes.
This, of course, has nothing to do with her acting, but stop saying she looks great for her age. Especially as she's obviously had plastic surgery, it also obvious she didn't keep up with more procedures.

As for people conflating “aging done well” with being well-preserved or having the least obvious plastic surgery done: LMFAO. It’s not about that. It’s about not giving a fuck about how weathered or well-preserved you may be, and just letting yourself *be*. The women I have included in this thread don’t care that their faces are lined and wrinkled, or whether they look young or too old for their ages. They’re content with themselves, and that sort of ease and confidence radiates a whole other kind of beauty.

Even though Lange is a lifelong smoker (not even ex smoker I don’t think) - her voice never changed the way Goldie hawn’s or Jen Aniston’s (and many others) did. Her register is pretty much the same it’s always been. I wonder the science behind that. I don’t think it’s all about smoking Vs not smoking.
Betty White for example, one of the few actresses who never smoked - had a different (deeper) voice on GG versus Mary Tyler Moore Show, and got deeper more “old lady like” as the decades wore on. And yet someone like Jane Fonda sounds exactly the same .

Michelle Pfeiffer said not too long ago that the goal should be to look good for your age NOT not look your age. When you set out for that all the trouble starts. A lot of people don’t realize that you lose bone in your face. So in order to fill that in, doctors inject fat, filler or use cheek implants. It’s never going to look natural. Honestly, I think people look better with some wrinkles and looking like they’re had a good night’s sleep. I love that people are also letting their hair go natural. Seeing all these people who look like cookie cutter sex dolls is tragic.

Jennifer Lopez is smart and did it right (intentionally or not) but delaying your pop culture debut as long as possible. If you "debut" after 30, your face essentially looks the same until you're 70ish if you do sleep, diet, and exercise right. She is early 50s and basically looks the same or better since she first came out with her first movies (Out of Sight/The Cell/Anaconda), so no one bats an eyelash when she is still putting out slut pop songs or rom-coms. Of course, great bone structure helps, but no one and I repeat NO ONE wants to go bald. No one wants to spray scalp cover on their head, wear a toupee or have a disgusting odd combover. No one wants hair which looks like cotton candy.
Also, people who don't have great bone structure actually need full healthy hair to frame their faces, especially for women. Baldly thinning flat hair and bad bone structure do not mix.
A friend is a hairdresser, with mostly female clients, their biggest concern is their thinning hair. Many women need to wear what is essentially a female toupee, a Topper, which adds volume and thickness, it's a piece which clips on to their existing hair and has to be blended in.
The problem with Toppers, the hair must match the texture of existing hair. If the Topper hair fibers are healthier and shiny, it might not blend well with existing hair. I noticed this once during a TV interview with Nicole Kidman, she had healthy shiny extensions and her own bio hair was dry, dull and damaged, you could easily see she was wearing extensions.

Hair aside, if given a choice, most people would would rather have their health above all else. Unless these people had careers which were based on their looks and they never cultivated a personally, most people simply accept that aging is part of life.
Former model Paulina Porizkova comes to mind, she's now always complaining about her lost youth and trouble finding a man. Please, Paulina looks much better than most women her age. her problem is, she doesn't have much of personality because she so self absorbed and obviously doesn't have any interests. I can imagine she sits there and talks about herself and nothing else.
A cousin started going bald in his early 20s! His son, now well into his mid 40s, still has great thick head of hair. Guess the son didn't inherit the bald gene. His mother and his sister also have great hair.

The point is, if the hairdresser isn't very good and doesn't match the hair texture to the woman's existing hair, you can definitely notice they are wearing extensions. Most older women have hair loss. Hair loss in women usually starts around menopause but not for all. My elderly aunts still have thick hair, even their hairlines haven't receded.
When men and women start losing their hair, the texture and health of the hair changes dramatically. The existing bio hair becomes thinner, dry and dull.
The idea, when adding supplemental hair, is to [bold]not notice these actresses are wearing supplemental hair. [/bold] The Topper piece or extensions should look like the woman's existing hair. If the actress is wearing a full wig, this isn't problem, unless the wig looks like the healthy hair of a 25 year old and the actress is 80, you can tell it's not their hair.

I started losing my hair in my late teens. My father in his middle age had a full head and had no sympathy for me. In his early 80s he found he had cancer and had to undergo chemo. He started losing his hair and became upset. I said well cry me a fucking river Pop!

These are all people whose paychecks and public personas depend on how they look, all their professional lives. They ALL have had work done. Every single one of them.
All these people have managers and advisors telling them what should be done, when, and by whom.
Results of the cosmetic surgery depend on the surgeon's skill, experience and care. Also, procedures work better on healthy faces that haven’t been sun damaged, and whose owners never smoked or regularly drank to excess. Rare in the entertainment industry.
For performers in the public eye, cosmetic work is not simply vanity or an effort to deny aging—it’s professionally necessary.
