Adan Canto is DEAD to me
William Jenkins
[quote]Adan Canto, the Mexican-American actor died January 8 after a private battle with appendiceal cancer. He was 42.
[quote]For the past two years, Canto starred opposite Élodie Yung on The Cleaning Lady. While his health did not allow him to film when production on the upcoming Season 3 started in December, following the end of the strikes, he was planning to rejoin the cast later in the season.
[quote]He also starred in Designated Survivor, where he portrayed Vice President-elect Aaron Shore opposite Kiefer Sutherland for three seasons. He also had a turn on Narcos and did an arc on Second Chance. In features, Canto is probably best known for playing Sunspot in X-Men: Days of Future Past and also had major roles in 2 Hearts, Halle Berry’s directorial debut Bruised, and Agent Game, among others.

Speaks for itself, doesn't it?

Damn :( I’ve always admired his work and thought he was handsome. He made Designated Survivor.

Why didn’t they remove his appendix before the cancer became life threatening?

“Appendix cancer survival rate
For patients with neuroendocrine tumors of the appendix and other low-grade tumors, the five-year relative survival rate ranges from 67 percent to 97 percent, according to the National Cancer Institute (NCI).“

r3 Didn't exhibit any symptoms, most likely.

Carol Higgins Clark died of this cancer as well, back in June.

R2, agreed re: "Designated Survivor." I was so impressed by his performance that my primary thought was, "Why the hell haven't we seen this stud before now?" Dead at 42 – from natural causes, AND with a preschooler & toddler as kid – is both rare & horrifying.
R3, we know zilch about his illness other than its name. Doctors generally only remove appendixes if they burst. A cancerous one would not, and it's entirely possible it went unnoticed until it was too late (e.g. he had no symptoms until he was already near, or at, Stage 4).

Most appendiceal cancers are mucinous adenocarcinoma, not the neuroendocrine type. Some of these are low-grade, while others are high-grade which spread quickly throughout the abdomen. Overall, appendiceal cancer is pretty rare. Audrey Hepburn also died of it.

It affects fewer than a thousand people in the US each year.

Wow he was perfect. This gorgeous man with everything to live for is dead at 41 from cancer and yet Donald Trump is still walking the earth?

Thanks for the clarification. Lol

I don’t know him but since he’s hot I’m officially in mourning.

Why lord?! Why do you have to take such hot snatch? You damn, greedy devil!

R8 . . .
“Upon returning from Somalia to Switzerland in late September 1992, Hepburn developed abdominal pain. While initial medical tests in Switzerland had inconclusive results, a laparoscopy performed at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in early November revealed a rare form of abdominal cancer belonging to a group of cancers known as pseudomyxoma peritonei. Having grown slowly over several years, the cancer had metastasised as a thin coating over her small intestine. After surgery, Hepburn began chemotherapy.“

He should've tried to get treatment at St. Olaf Memorial Hospital. They're known worldwide for their appendix transplants.

I only knew him as Sunspot in Days of Future Past, and I remember finding him extremely handsome. Sad.

Honestly, there are few celebrities that I "crush" on, but he was perfection. I watched the horrible "Cleaning Lady" on Fox every week for even a passing glimpse of his beauty.

Ugh...42 is young to go from cancer.

What is with all these people dying in their 40s lately?
| by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 10, 2024 3:27 AM |
My best friend was diagnosed with this cancer and had surgery and hot chemo in October.

R18 only I doubt you ever watched it and are making it up for no reason at all
| by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 10, 2024 3:51 AM |
R22, why would I lie about watching The Cleaning Lady? It was a silly show, but Adan was beautiful and his character was sweet, so I watched it (it came on after 9-1-1 which I was already watching.)

Those fucking appendices. They don’t do anything
| by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 10, 2024 5:32 AM |
R23 because you lie about literally everything
| by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 10, 2024 5:38 AM |
I really enjoyed him in Designated Survivor. I haven't seen him in anything else. 42 is so young. Very sad.

I think he played a gay character at one point. He was very handsome and seemed like a nice guy. RIP.

I first saw him in the Kevin Bacon series The Following and thought he was both hot and a pretty decent actor. RIP.

Apparently he came on Designated Survivor after I bailed on the show. Statistically he had really bad luck.
Appendiceal malignancies are a rare group of tumors often found incidentally during surgical removal of the appendix. Histologically, this malignancy accounts for 0.5% to 1% of all biopsy specimens following appendectomies

At least he achieved a nice placement in the In Memoriam segment on the Emmy Awards.
